So… I’m not gonna lie. It’s been a solid month since I have done a perks post. There are things going on beyond my control, but the books have been coming in. So, here they are.
So, I have been on hiatus. And there are reasons, but I will just summarize. My husband, the Beekeeper, is in the last few months (fingers crossed) of his Entomology graduate program at school (he really is a Beekeeper). Things have been, shall we say, rough domestically. We’re good, but stuff keeps happening, and, suffice it to say, it has been affecting my reading. Both of my time AND my focus have been nil. This doesn’t do well for me on many levels. But, I am trying to get back into the game. So, here I am.
I started rereading The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon. I knew I was receiving a copy of the sequel, The Mime Order. And, lo and behold, I now have two.
Giveaway looms. Loometh even. Just saying, I don’t need two. But someone else does. Keep watching.
Also, please note that there are two copies of Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers. Same thing goes, soon.
I have so many projects in the works. The one thing I have been able to focus on is my own personal edits, which are ongoing. I have three manuscripts that I keep picking and picking at. Eventually something may happen with it, but for now I’m still enjoying them just being mine. In December I undergo my yearly writing project and I cannot wait. I have so many ideas and none of them are nice or “good” (as in sweet)… which is exactly how I like it. I cannot wait to get this book out of my head. It’s going to be insane.
Also, I am really enjoying rereading The Bone Season. There are so many tiny details that I have missed that do so much to enrich the world. I am loving rediscovering everything. I am completely smitten, once again. God, that book… and *screech* The Mime Order. I am so, positively elated to get it early. Beyond geeked.
So, in the interest of keeping this simple, I am out. What is everyone reading this week and what are you looking forward to?
I promise to be a better blogger. I hope to be a better reader as well.
