Hey all. I am back from the world of baby leave. How’s everyone doing?

…Actually, I am firmly still enmeshed in the world of baby leave until early January, but who’s counting?

Beyond that, books have been piling up in the wake of the new world order. Behold!

Yes…I do currently have two copies of Carve the Mark. Yes, yes I do.

But this, of course is not the big deal of life right now.

Because this very much is:

And this…

…And oh so much this…

And of course girls can wear Batman onesies…because, why not?

So, as you can see, I have fallen very much in love with a certain young lady who has stolen my heart. T’is true. Her name is Sophie Lyra, and my husband and I are both entirely enrapt. We have been loving and snuggling and reading so much to her. My husband is currently reading The Little Prince and Furthermore to her. I have listened to a small ton of audio books while feeding her. I also read her the first two books in the Calpurnia Tate, Girl Vet series to her (Skunked and Counting Sheep). I am now working through Anne of Green Gables with her.

(I myself am reading Caraval by Stephanie Garber right now in between all the things, which is just the tone I want and need – not too hard and not too soft.)

But life is not completely about her right now.

…oh, who am I kidding, it’s ALL about her right now. Because, this:

I promise to resurface at some point from this madness, but right now I am thoroughly enjoying it.

See.

And with that I’m off for now, because baby. But on a parting thought, if you are wondering where her name came from, here it is:

Kid you not.

We’re nerds.

Have a good night, all!

Of course life is all about her! She is precious. I always say I love babies a bit more than I love books. I adore the name Sophie, and Lyra is beautiful. I am happy to have stumbled across your blog just as you are sticking your toes back into the blogosphere. I am looking forward to reading your posts. I have followed you via Twitter and will be following the blog, too. Congratulations!
