2016 YA Challenge – Science Fiction Poll

Hey all.

I am trying to get through some of my (extensive) pile of must-read books. To that end, I have decided to establish a reading challenge in order to clear some of them. Over the next few weeks I will post a series of genres with the titles of many books. What I ask of you, gentle readers, is to vote on any of the titles in the list that you either think I should read or would like to see me review. I will plan my challenges according to the votes received in each poll.

For poll two I have a series of science fiction titles. I have stuck largely to YA (or those Adult titles with immense YA crossover appeal). Please vote for up to five titles from the list that think I should prioritize. Should I read and love the first one in the series I will, naturally pick up the sequels, so series starter books are the only suggestions necessary (the sequels listed below are for my own use).

If you do not see a title that you think I should read, feel free to suggest it in your comments. However, some titles have been left off intentionally due to lack of interest or the fact that I have already read them. Also, should these not quite fit into the genre that I have shoe-horned them into, please let me know in the comments. I am always opened to constructive criticism.

And without further adieu, here is the list:

Dualed by Elsie Chapman (1 sequel – Divided)

The Taking by Kimberly Derting (2 sequels – The Replaced and The Countdown)

Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano (2 sequels – Burning Kingdoms and Broken Crowns)

The Lost Code by Kevin Emerson (2 sequels – The Dark Shore and The Far Dawn)

Scan by Sarah Fine (1 sequel – Burn)

Black Hole Sun by David Macinnis Gill (2 sequels – Invisible Sun and Shadow on the Sun)

Linked by Imogene Howson (1 sequel – Unravel)

Mystic City by Theo Lawrence (2 sequels – Toxic Heart and one that is untitled)

Ancillary Justice by Anne Leckie (2 sequels – Ancillary Sword and Ancillary Mercy)

Mothership by Martin Leicht and Isla Neal (2 sequels – A stranger Thing and The World Forgot)

Proxy by Alex London (1 sequel – Guardian)

Starglass by Phoebe North (1 sequel – Starbreak)

The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh O’Brien (1 sequel – The Rule of Mirrors)

Altered by Jennifer Rush (2 sequels – Erased and Reborn)

Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan (2 sequels – Spark and Flame)

The Marbury Lens by Andrew Smith (1 sequel – Passenger)

Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith.

Reboot by Amy Tinera (1 sequel – Rebel)

Gravity by Melissa West (2 sequels – Hover and Collide)

Also, please vote in my YA FANTASY POLL if you have not done so already.

Remember, you can vote up to five titles for this poll! So, have at!

And thank you, as always.

My votes would be for:

Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano & Ancillary Justice by Anne Leckie. Those are really the only 2 SciFi books I’ve heard of on the list.

Don’t know if you’ve made your selections but Dualed/Divided are great! Mystic City was so,so. Perfect Ruin is good. And Kevin Emerson is a great writer so I’d definitely recommend him.
