Hello all.

It’s been a minute. Here are some pretty spoils of war.

DSCF2956

I have had some major struggles with my health lately. Frankly, it’s gotten a bit worse since the last time I updated. The good news is that I have a diagnoses and a plan of attack. The better is that it is not the no-good, very bad thing that it could be. So that’s that.

It’s actually surprisingly manageable. I just need to get from this end to the better end of it and I’ll be good. The secondary problem is that immediately following a diagnoses I was swept away with a wicked head cold and then women things on top of it and… well, you get the point. I kinda want to die. But, it’s not terribly dire and the rest of my health is too good, so I won’t. Despite my body trying to kill me.

Through all of this I have not been reading. So I can’t even talk about that right now. Looking forward to it, but my concentration is crap now and bed and junk TV are too compelling. So, there’s that. It certainly hasn’t stopped the pretties from coming in, but the attention simply is not there to ogle them. Oh well, time enough in life to be healthy and all that. I’m calling all review release dates until the end of the year a wash now. I just can’t do it.

Cheer me up. What are you reading these days? Chat away.

Ta!

Ugh, I know what it’s like to be sick – and then to have extra sick piled on top. XP Feel better soon! <3 When I'm really sick I tend not to read either – well, novels anyway. If I feel like reading something I usually end up re-reading my favorite manga, the junk TV of books. 😉

I'm currently re-reading Etiquette & Espionage in prep for the 3rd book release in November, but it keeps getting waylaid by a sudden influx of new manga I got from the library. I've discovered a few new series – Voice Over! Seiyu Academy, about aspiring voice actors, turned out to be exceptionally good, although it took a volume and a half to get interesting. And Penguin Revolution, which is about the Japanese entertainment industry (my favorite manga subject), is spectacular, although I'm having a hard time getting my hands on all the volumes because they're out of print. T-T

I'm looking forward to The Bone Season readalong at the end of this month – I have yet to read it, so I'm excited to finally get to it! And I think it will be a good companion to my Nanowrimo novel. I wasn't going to participate, but I came up with a really good idea and I've been having trouble making time to write so I'm taking the month off from my blog to get some words on a page.

I’m so sorry you’ve been sick. Hope you get better soon!

I’m reading The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater for a readalong (which I’m a month behind on), and the Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross and Legacy of the Clockwork Key by Kristin Bailey. Steampunk and high fantasy are my two favorite genres right now, so I’m also re-reading Curtsies & Conspiracies while waiting for the 3rd book.

Hi, I hope you feel better soon. I recently had to give up work due to chronic back pain which there seems to be no solution to other than lots of horrible pills. So im with you on the feeling poo.

Nevertheless books seem to make things so much better… Recently finished ‘The strange affair of spring heeled jack’ by Mark Hodder a lighthearted steampunking mystery which was very enjoyable & certainly a lot easier than ‘The bone clocks’ my previous read. I am currently trudging through Anthony Ryans sequel to ‘Blood song,’ ‘Tower lord’ which 300 pages in, is not appealing to me as much as its predecessor. Im sure it will pick up soon (he says, keep the faith)

I have had many a days of so wanting to read but not being able to concentrate. I highly recommend Audible, its great to have another book going whilst your doing stuff, if like me you have a big pile waiting. Ive currently got ‘The Daylight war’ by Peter v Brett going which is excellent. Hear a sample first though, if you don’t like the narrators voice, it will annoy you more than relax you. Sometimes I get the book i’m reading if I find i’m too busy to read & feel like i’m getting nowhere as a continuation.
Alternatively go to http://www.disposableheroes.co.uk/ & pick up some marvel comics, which are great fun. I love Guardians of the Galaxy & All-New X-Men.

As well as this check out a new blog I have setup for my love of books. http://louiefantasybooks.wordpress.com/

I’m sorry to hear that your health has declined and I really hope you star feeling better! And I hope your ‘plan of attack’ works out!.

I’m in the middle of an awful reading slump right now so I have like 6 books going, but i’m working my way through The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh O’Brien right now. I have some issues with the story but it’s pretty good.
