The Perks of Being a Bookseller: Part 49

Hello folks.

I’m kinda (sorta, maybe) catching up on a bunch of different things this week. I finished a couple of necessary reviews and am currently working on another (slowly). I have several on my iPad that I have to get through, but I’m getting there. Things are feeling pretty good just now.

And here’s your weekly book porn.

– Said book porn –

And yes… you are seeing that right. This is the THIRD copy of Dorothy Must Die that I have received. You know that only means one thing… giveaway looms.

Who wants it? Keep watching. It’s happening soon.

(And, sorry folks, two are already spoken for… so I only now have ONE to give away.)

Don’t believe me? See for yourselves.

– Three… three copies of Dorothy Must Die. Ah… ha… ha.. –

(Ah… Count Von Count how I love thee.)

Yeah. It happens. Increasingly, it seems. If (when) I get four copies I will just have a one word blog post.

So, veering away from the subject guess what else looms in my book world… the two-day read-a-long with Anya from On Starships and Dragonwings (I swear I’m going to invert that sometimes unintentionally… On Starwings and Dragonships).

(… I kinda like that Anya. Just  saying. 😉

So, the read-a-long looms. In fact, it begins Friday morning and spans all of Saturday as well. The two of us are planning to hole up here with a stack (pile) of books each and a number of yummy sundries.

And we’re going to read. We’re going to read so hard. It’ll be grand.

No really, that is our plan. Get groceries and get to business getting through books. I’m providing nests and crash pads and potential blankets for book forts (yay book forts!) and we are doing this thing. I plan on blogging the action (Action…? Will there be action? Or will I just pass out mid-book and sleep all weekend? Keep tuned in to find out!). I think that means as I finish a book I will review it, but we shall see. I would love to finish four books. That would be the happy, ultimate goal. We’ll see if I do two.

Still, two books in two days is a good thing. It helps me jump ahead on my Goodreads challenge, if nothing else.

Speaking of, here is a small pile of the challenge books that I will be snoring loudly next to by Friday afternoon.

– Must not knock over books while sleep/snoring. –

If anyone wants to join us in the read-a-long feel free. We can form a twitter hashtag if necessary. Though, ideally I don’t know how frequently I will be tweeting. I am hoping to be reading and not wasting time online.

(I can dream, right?)

(Anya, slap me if I waste too much time, a’ight?)

(“A’ight” always makes me think of Greg the Bunny. Does anyone know what the hell I am talking about? Am I dating myself with that reference?)

… if nothing else I managed to mention the Sesame Street Count and Count Blah in the same blog post. So, I’ve done my job. I can go away now.

* Grins *

(Nobody knows what the hell you are talking about, Krys. Back away from the computer keys now.)

A lot of people are super-excited for Dorothy Must Die, but I’ve heard both good and bad things about it already. I’m on the fence about whether I want to read it or not – I’ve never been much for the Wizard of Oz (*ducks to avoid thrown objects*). I am really excited about The Shadow Throne, though! I absolutely loved The False Prince and, although I never got around to reading The Runaway King when it released, with the last book coming out I’ll have to binge read the entire series.

Good luck with your read-a-long! I would join but I’d never make it, especially with the homework I have right now. You’ve got some amazing books in that pile though, so I don’t think you should be sleeping much – Winner’s Curse, Graduation Day, the entire Ascendance Trilogy, Half Bad! If you’re taking recommendations, I say start with The Winner’s Curse. Everyone is absolutely raving about it – I’m DYING to read it myself. And if you’re looking for something different, I discovered Half Bad is written in 2nd Person! I’m really excited to give it a try.

Great haul this week, and happy reading! 🙂

Haha, I didn’t know stars could have wings but I like it too 😀

Whoever falls asleep first gets funny things drawn on their face!

Slaps? I thought we agreed on crossbows???

That’s probably a terrible idea, as you know I can draw very well… especially the “funny” things. 😉
