The Perks of Being a Bookseller – Part 40

40… I’ve done 40 Perks post so far.

Wow. That’s a lot of books, yo.

Here’s some more.

Perks 40

(The Kiss of Deception sounds awesome! I had not heard of it before.)

I had the damndest trouble with my camera the last two days. I think my memory card is corrupted. I had to shoot this with my iPad and upload it to Facebook. Sigh.

However, I wrote almost 10,000 word since Saturday morning. So I call it even.

Yes folks, you read that right. 10,000 words… minus the 600+ I’m about to go and do to make up the deficit.

Go me.

To that end my reading has severely flown the way of the dodo. I’ve basically traded my reading for writing and spending about the same amount of time I would normally spend doing one versus the other. The one difference is that my brain is overwhelmed by creative problem solving every hour of the day, so I don’t feel like my imagination has had a chance to relax.

It’s fun. And sort of strange.

I’m glad that I don’t do this EVERY MONTH. Not enough brain power for this all the time.

Other than that I am doing pretty well. I Am still working through I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith, though I haven’t read very much of it admittedly… and Dune even less. I’m hoping that the reading focus problems go away after the writing project is done. Writing has taken over my time just as I predicted it would. So there’s that.

But I am very happy to be doing something creative, so there’s that also.

I guess that’s it folks. I’m boring this week so I’ll leave you to your week. What are you reading currently and what are you most looking forward to read soon?

Oh, and I have a contest up and contests on their way, so keep looking.

Ta!

November was writing month for me and reading went by the wayside. Just my library stack is now in two piles! I’m sure my local library appreciates me abducting an entire shelf of books. My husband sure doesn’t! Now I’m just trying to catch up, something I’m not sure will happen anytime soon. I just finished Bronze Gods by AA Aguire and the latest Jane Yellowrock from Faith Hunter. Now I’m onto Fire Season (something I think I already told you about the last time I tried to read it!) and The Madness Underneath by Maureen Johnson.

Nice stack this time! I’m desperate to get my hands on The Winner’s Curse – it’s EXACTLY my kind of read. You’re right, Kiss of Deception does look awesome! I have added it to my Wishlist – thanks for pointing it out! I’m currently still reading Avalon by Mindee Arnett – I too am having a very hard time focusing on reading. It’s a pretty good story, but my mind just refuses to concentrate most of the time. Luckily I had a few new manga this month to hold my interest a few hours – Skip Beat Vol. 32 and Sweet Rein Vol. 1. I picked up Sweet Rein purely by accident but it is seriously adorable and actually Christmas themed so it was just what I needed!

I’m glad to hear your writing is going so well so far! Having done Nanowrimo half a dozen times I know exactly what you mean about the fun and strange feeling. Good luck with the rest of the month! 🙂
