The Perks of Being a Bookseller – Part 31

Hello all.

I missed a day. I usually like to do the latest Perks post on Mondays, but yesterday I had more important things to do.. can’t remember a one now though but rest assured it was much more important than blogging. Suffice it to say I dawdled… and I frittered away the time, and I lollygagged before going to work… and then I got there and realized what I had (un)intentionally forgot to do…

(…Moar books!)

(Here’s what I am most excited for.)

Fortunately, yesterday is when ALL THE BOOKS came in so it was fortuitous that I stalled this week’s Perks post. Before that I only had 3 books for the week. So I guess my brain must have had a premonition.

(I typed brian, not brain originally. I find that funny… my BRIAN had a premonition.)

I’m going to a pub breakfast tomorrow. So there should be MOAR BOOKS. We always need MOAR BOOKS… right?

So, what did I read lately… I finished rereading Kim Derting’s The Pledge, but I didn’t review it a second time because my original review still holds true for many of my thoughts. This time I did find I was less happy two-thirds through the story but I blame These Broken Stars for that. Which I am still reeling from. And the revolutionary camps scene were duller this time through, but not enough to stop me. I still love that book. I have 30 pages left in Man Made Boy, so expect that review soon. I started reading The Essence (book 2) by Derting, which I never got around to last year and am only making the effort now that I have an ARC of The Offering (book 3).

And I have to start Dune.

And I have to read Oryx and Crake before the end of the month.

And I have to read Entangled by Amy Rose Capetta (before the e-arc expires).

And… and… and…

(the pile… the pile…)

(…and I make lists when I get listy…)

What else… I have a small ton of books gathering here, so I think it’s about time to do a small ton of giveaways. So, I’m going to start doing that soon. But, here’s a sneak-peek of what’s coming up in the next day or so.

the perfect ruin

And I mean start subscribing… because the giveaways will be fast and numerous and you don’t want to miss them.

Beyond that, I have breakfast waiting for me and a book to finish. What are you reading right now? What are you looking forward to reading most?

I’m really looking forward to The Promise of Amazing – it looks adorable! Also, No One Else Can Have You looks good. And Hexed. Dirty Magic also intrigues me – put “magic” in a title and my interest is piqued.

I’m currently devouring the Lunar Chronicles – I can’t believe I waited so long to read them! Although when I say “the Chronicles,” I mean the first two books – I’m not even halfway through Scarlet and I know I’m going to despair when I reach the end because I don’t have Cress. T-T Such a stellar series – looking forward to meeting the author at the end of this month for the Fierce Reads tour!

I smartly Followed you this week via email (I can’t believe it took me so long to remember that was an option *headdesk*), and it sounds like just in time – now I’m ready for your giveaways! 😉

Have fun at the pub breakfast! I hope you do a post about it, I’d love to hear what they’re like – take pics! 🙂

I’m really and truly considering opening a bookshop after seeing this! The jealousy every week is unbearable! But I have to admit I don’t envy you the enormous pile of TBR you must have.
