The Perks of Being a Bookseller – Part 27

Hello again. It’s monday, so it’s Perks time.

I’m here with my cup of tea avoiding some uber tempting homemade cheesecake to show you the spoils of my ongoing bookwar. Harpercollins came in this week, which always is a stunner of a pile.

And here it is.. in all of its mammoth glory.

(Harpercollins Winter 2014 ARC pile. By all the fairies, it’s beautiful!)

So. Many. Books.

(A couple of parcels from Simon and Schuster made their way to me. These might end up being giveaways at some point in the near future…)

Of the HC books the one I am most excited for is Infinite by Jodi Meadows. I thought her first two books were, and are, fantastic. And I am really looking forward to a reread of them for book three. Now that I have all of them… oh, it’s on.

But first… so many other books in my bookworld. Projects upon projects. Sigh. It never stops.

One exciting thing – I finalized the first choice for the Lou Tribute. Behold…

YESSSSSS…. Dune by the one and only Frank Herbert. And yes, shame on me for never reading it YEARS AGO when my brother wanted me to read it. But, you know, better late and all that. So, if anyone wants to join in the read along for Dune that is the book that I am reading to start the project. We’re going to play this by ear. Ideally I want to talk about AND review this one before Halloween. If that one can be read BEFORE, so be it. But I have, oh… three other book group choices… and numerous arcs… and so much, and this and that and the other thing.

So, we’re clearly swimming against the river now. And losing.

But, we have fun losing. Yes we do.

I am currently reading a couple of books. I have Heart of Venom by Jennifer Estep on my iPad that I have been pecking away at (slowly). I’m also (just as slowly) reading Perfect Ruin by Lauren Destefano. I’m also supposed to start The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield… and haven’t yet.

I can explain the delay – Memorial Service.

(Roses from a good friend that were sent to the memorial sevice)

That is all.

Hopefully this week, now that everything is settled (relatively) I will be able to get back in the head space to work. Because it certainly didn’t happen this week. Too many up and down emotional moments. Too much non-book world invading.

But I digress. There are things that you can do for me, so you should go do that, please!

Please sign this petition for Christopher Moore to come to our store.

Also, this contest ends tomorrow. So, if you haven’t entered yet, you should.

And I ramble… so I am concluding. Thanks again for ogling.

What are you looking forward to reading? What are you reading right now?

And who wants to read Dune with me? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Nice books from Harperteen – there are five I am dying to read! I would be too picky to want to read all of them though, lol.

I don’t read all of them either. They get divied up between multiple bookseller friends and blogging sources.

Any chance you’d part with Teen Spirit by Francesca Block? I reviewed her last book for my blog and would love to review this one!
