Yep, you guessed it. That is very much a romance cover. This means I’m still on my adult kick, and what better way to continue than with paranormal romance, or to be utterly precise – Selkie smut.

In Ocean’s Touch  we meet the widow Meredith, a repressed, school marm-ish mouse of a woman still living under the crushing grief of her husband’s death five years earlier. Meredith manages her husband’s estate and money, funneling his wealth into several charitable organizations he chaired during his life. Now, years later, Meredith is lonely but won’t admit that. Enter Dylan, a roguish Scottish Selkie who has watched Meredith, longing to get her out of her drab days and into some colour… even if it means introducing her to his world.

Denise Townsend’s first book was quite a fun read. It’s very much a romance in that there is sex in it… lots of sex. Like… sex in every chapter (or at least every other). It’s not for readers who don’t like reading titillation. However, the scenes are beautifully written and achingly poignant. Where Townsend succeeds is in taking our heroine, prostrate with grief, and letting her live life again. We see her very elegantly evolve from one end of the spectrum to the other. I loved this book, though I was lukewarm on Alex, another love interest on the story. I liked reading Dylan so much better, but then again supernatural boys are always hot.

4.5 out of 5 stars.

This sounds like it’s something I would like. I’ve been on the same adult kick lately… I can’t shake it. I just read the Fifty Shades books and I’m thinking about reading one of Michelle Mead’s adult series now. It seems like the YA books I’ve picked up lately just aren’t doing it for me.

Eegads, Denise sucked in another one? She’s such a strumpet! 😉 But she thanks you for the lovely review.

I’m not a prude but I’m not into bodice rippers either. However, last year I won the first two books in the Eternal Guardians series by Elisabeth Naughton and ended up loving them, it’s the only series that I read which comes from the romance section (so far).

So if you’re looking for a paranormal romance series with an actual storyline and likeable characters, you might want to check it out!
