Review – City of Fallen Angels

… Yeah, I know, me and everyone on the planet is reading City of Fallen Angels this week. What makes me so special? Simple, I didn’t think I was going to love it halfway through it.

I know. I was doubting Cassandra Clare, but I’m glad to say that it exceeded expectations. Beyond what I was thinking it was going to be. So good!

This book seamlessly continues from the last book. Clary and Jace are settling into themselves and their relationship while Simon is dating two women, Isabelle and Maia. Corpses start appearing in Manhattan. Someone is killing Shadowhunters and it’s up to Clary and co. to discover who, and why.

If I told you more than that I would be doing everyone a disservice. You really just need to read it for yourself. I was a touch afraid when I realized that the book (up to a point) is largely character driven. Considering that this is a new “trilogy” within the series I wanted something heavier in plot development than this started out to be. I was preparing myself to be disappointed by a mediocre middle book. However, Clare comes through in high style. In the eleventh hour she blew the plot sky-high in typical Clare fashion. I’m very happy with this one.

I could gush and gush and gush but you should just go read it. And enjoy it! I did.

5 out of 5 stars. Love!
