Awww, junk. I did it. I read all of Ellen Schreiber’s Vampire Kisses series in one week, lest the three manga. Those are for tomorrow. I guess that means that I like them? Guilty as charged. Super guilty pleasures, I guess. The dialogue isn’t wonderful, the situations are not earth shattering, the characters are a bit one-dimensional. But I like all of them. And I like the goofy 12-year-old look at life (even though they are ages 16+). There’s something fun about this series.
Funny thing that I finished all of these when I have not finished the Sookie Stackhouse books yet. I thought those were my ultimate guilty pleasure? ‘Fraid not.
In Love Bites we get a surprise. Alexander’s best friend, Sebastian, drops in from Romania. Because of course he does. Raven is almost immediately jealous because, you know, meeting the parents, the ex-betrothed and her pissed off twin brother, the little brother of the betrothed, and a club full of angry blood eaters is apparently no match for the most frightening thing of all… Bromance.
Really? Threatened by the bff? Isn’t that a little cliché, Raven? Well, to be honest, this whole series is a little cliché, so I’m not surprised. It’s just annoying to see fairly confident Raven slip into Bella-dom for a moment. Nothing else.
Overall, pretty good ending. The first of the real cliffhangers of the series. Now I’m really annoyed that Cryptic Cravings is not out. Oh well.
4 out of 5 stars. And now for something completely different. Or, at the very least, the mangas.
