The Hugo nominees were announced yesterday. Congrats to all of the nominees! It’s an honour to even be up for consideration.
I haven’t had the chance to read that many of them, so at this point I am rather biased. The best novel category has several people I could see winning it though. I have read Mieville’s The City and The City and I thought is was an amazing concept that was well written. Valente, Bacigalupi, and Priest are also on my list.
I have read very little else on the list. I’m not thrilled that Gail Carriger or Seanan McGuire might win for Best New Writer. Soulless was disappointing to me because I really wanted to love it and did not. Rosemary and Rue was hard to get into and I let it go 100 pages in. Again, I wanted to love it, but it wasn’t the book for me.
One of these years I would love to get to Worldcon. I really wanted to go last year…but alas, it did not work out that way. Le sigh.
Oh well, there’s always another Worldcon.
